United vs Liverpool – A Litmus test

I’d say we’ve witnessed a superb start to the season, winning both home and away games semi-convincingly, 2 clean sheets and 4 goals with a lot more in the tank to come. A methodical approach to games has given us some pondering time in which there’s legit debates on both sides. We control the game a lot more, with big % pass completion rates which suggests that those passes are not really risky, allowing us to take sting out of the game somewhat. With this approach we don’t see the high intensity game as often as we did, it’s more precise and tactical from our build up play or counter, which so far has made us a little more effective. We’re still gelling, and we will continue to witness changes to our in-possession and out-of-possession game, with players adapting to the new style of play under Slot. Time will tell whether this will work for us but so far it’s been brilliant.

There’s a lot to be excited about and the lads need us more than ever to help them adapt as quickly as possible and they are. Pre-season was a hit and the players jumped right in the deep end, we saw the whole team navigate their way through to new coaching all at once and I haven’t seen any negatives come out of that yet. The only one being not strengthening.

2 hairless dutchies will slog it out on Sunday and we’ll be able to see what we’re like in top gear. I think we’ll have to up the intensity to come away with 3 points, the biggest test of Slot career awaits and he’ll know exactly what this fixture means to us. I think he’ll go with the same starting lineup, probably saving changing things until the fixtures come thick and fast and we start playing midweek games. I like that he’s using most of the subs he has, resting key players like Trent and Jota for the season ahead, it’s no secret doing this helps absolutely everyone involved – 1st team players, subs, medical staff, supporters, coaches. Burnout is becoming much more prevalent with the ever-increasing amount of domestic and international games the players are subjected to, so anything he can do to alleviate that is 100% welcomed.

Onto to the weekend guys, onto the big one, onto another solid performance !

UP THE MIGHTY FUCKING REDMEN!!!
