Can’t remember the last time we had one of these late ones on a Saturday, some welcome rest during slots first test in a tight fixture schedule. He played it perfectly so far resting key players midweek. Which gave a look in to the rest of the squad, allowing them to get some important minutes under their belt.
Thought Jones was superb in the second half. A cliché but the type of player that needs to be playing consistently to get the best out of him. Once he starts playing with a bit of freedom and confidence he thrives. Brighton away next round, toughie.
Looking forward to Saturday then with a trip over to Molineux facing a side who have had a tough start to the season. Not for the lack of trying though, it’s these types of games that give me the ick, low block and counter which we still haven’t really found a way around yet, I think gakkers and szlobs gotta find some space to unleash a few outside the box if they get chances.. Diaz will prob start but if he doesn’t produce I’d like to see a swap early on.
Funny one but I’d prob Starr Nunez this game, I think he’s starting to improve his overall game, though too early to measure his movement last week was brilliant, and his link up play was like Jotas. Slot has some fantastic problems right now and I think he’s trying to keep them all happy and fit. Expect to see more of this as it’s a long ol season. Especially in the CL, however the more games we win early on the more games we can rest key players.
