A few weeks ago I was thinking about if we somehow got knocked outa the CL in the last 16, and won the Carameh cup we would only have to focus on the league. With a fresh squad every week we should have enough to win it. That was when we were possibly looking at a 2 point gap if everything went a certain way.. But now ?! we have so much more bandwidth than we predicted we would just 2 weeks ago.
We have the cushion of 15 points as it stands with the arse still to play us at Anfield. In a few games time we could be putting all of eggs in the CL basket (if we qualify tomorrow of course) and with Villa looking like the potential team to play next it’s not a bad time to start thinking about resting some players for the CL. Okay, probably a bit too early for that kinda chat but it’s crazy how quickly things can turn.
It’s a clash of two of the best managers in the world right now, some say this should have been the final. One thing is for sure for us though, this would probably be the toughest route to the Cup we’ve ever faced if we manage to get there. But we CAN do it. We have the quality, the finishers, the Spine and the tactical brilliance of Arne Slot. He will demand more from the players tomorrow and I think we’ll see a more possession based game (hopefully) from us. He knows they’ll be open needing a goal so the longer they can keep them out the more chance of an opening for a counter later on.
