Liverpool vs Union Saint-Gilloise – We keep on rolling ?

Hard for everyone right now to change focus on another game after the shocking few days we’ve had as supporters, not just for LFC but in a way for the rest of the league as this has put any integrity they had right on the line. We’ve probably said all that needs to be said but Webb has noted the audio will be released soon. Hope this happens. Then the worms will truly be out of the can. Maybe this will help bring meaningful change though, like full live audio on VAR decisions, it works great already in Rugby and the NFL.

I can tell you one thing Klopp will have the lads almost over it by now at AXA, he is the best buffer we could ever hope for. Calming peoples frustrations since the final whistle. A true inspiration to me and to many. Thanks for not flipping the lid and going out of your skull pal, we owe you.

We’ll see what unfolds in due course but I’m glad to see the club and the admin have taken the bull by the horns now to let Klopp and the players spend their energy on more important tasks at hand.

This Thursday we welcome a new team to Anfield under the lights on a European night. It’s still special even though it’s the Europa, although anything but a convincing win will be seen as a miserable failure. Playing a mix of fringe and first teamers should get the job done.

Union Saint-Gilloise, wiki style:

The club is one of the most successful in the history of Belgian football. The club won eleven Belgian championships between 1904 and 1935, making it the most successful Belgian club before World War II, but fell into decline after relegation from the First Division in 1973. The team colours are blue and yellow and its matricule is 10. The team was traditionally popular with working class communities of southern Brussels.

On 13 March 2021, after defeating local rivals R.W.D. Molenbeek, Union was promoted back to the Belgian First Division A, marking its first appearance in top-flight football in 48 years. The following year, they finished top of the table at the end of the regular season, the first club in Belgian history to do so the season after promotion to the top flight. Union would go on to finish second in the champions play off, securing Champions League qualification for the first time ever in club history, and after being eliminated in the third qualifying round, reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

We will welcome you with open arms Union SG, we hope Anfield will make it a special night for you because this is what football is all about and you can be damn sure the football world needs reminding of that right now.

Play well red soldiers , we’re in the midst of a war. When you’re on top we are loving life, but when your backs are against the wall we will be there to prop you back up, you’ve given me and your beloved supporters some of the best memories any sporting fan can wish for. We are in this together. Against the fucking world. As Josh Osho says in this video, I’m twice the man I am with you (LFC).
