Just trying to wrap my head around how long it’s been since we watched the redmen play, I’ve definitely noticed more grey in my hair. Been a rough few days for us actually, we’ve had Covid since sat evening but over the worst now and feeling more ourselves. Little man was rough for a day, we were paranoid as fk but bounced off him like Lukaku’s touch thankfully.
Well we didn’t see much action on the contract front in the last few weeks and it’s getting painful now. I honestly can’t believe (well I can a bit) the stingyness of our club not laying out the red carpet to arguably our best 3 players we’ve had for YEARS. We’ve let go of Hendo, Fab, Thiago, Matip, Milner, Ox, Naby, Firmino, probably bunch of others which has lifted a CHUNK off the wage bil and it’s not like we’ve put money back into the club.. Plus we’ve had 100m bids rejected so seriously WHAT THE HELL ARE WE WAITING FOR. Just nail them down already. It’s only going to cost us more in the long run in fees, wages and a multitude of unmeasurable aspects if we end up losing Salah Trent and Virg. It needs to be discussed more I don’t think the seriousness is appreciated.. but what do I know.
Moving back into the swing of things now as we face Chelsea on Sunday, and it is a monster fixture. For both teams really, I think we’ll know where we are in terms of challenging after this game. I have confidence though that we’ll get the result we need. We are dominating defensive stats right now but we are prone to a gaff or two. Hopefully the boys will take it up a level facing stuffer competition.
A huge 3 points is up for grabs here and we’ll stay top if we get the job done. Winning that midfield battle is important and the lads have some rhythm to it now playing well off each other and syncing up with speed and a directness. Boys up top will be pumped for this one, would love to see an unleashed Nunez at somepoint, hoping he’ll take advantage with the game time he’ll have no doubt looking at the busiest period so far in our season coming up.
