Dont think I’ve seen any comments about this yet and I’m not sure what has happened since beating wolves whilst remaining 7 points clear but it now feels like every game is a cup final. Like every one now. Properly. The players feel it too I think.
We’re only human and playing for Liverpool all you wanna do is please. It’s an historic moment in time right now where we truly have it in our hands. We’ve been here before though and like I keep saying we’ve won fuck all yet. Also, the fact that nobody, including us, are blowing teams away at a rate means the intensity is nuclear. Anyone could drop points in any game. Hasn’t been this unpredictable in years. I think in a way because of the amount of games that are being forced on players nowadays the more fatigue is creeping in meaning more unpredictable results ? Might make sense in the morning..
Whatever. We play to win now, every game. Every moment. Every tackle and every 5050. Slot has to drill it into them that they may never get this chance again..
We beat them at Anfield 2-0 with goals from Nunez and of course Salah back in Nov. Emery’s side have gelled well since then though by becoming a formidable side in the PL. But only recently they have drifted off course, finding themselves 9th in the league but only 6 behind 4th. Not so clinical in front of goal have cost them vital points but there is absolutely everything to play for. They’re definitely looking for their second wind.
Us on the other hand after another win, are looking to build some momentum now, we’ve had a little blip over the last week but the screws are turning and the fire is blazing, we know the pressure will only start increasing every game we play but the bar needs to be set, contain the threats and burst through that fucking net..
Oh that was bad.. but one for ol’ troopz.
So from going into every week with a game in hand we’ll be going into the next few with a game in .. uh.. front ? Glove ? Game in future thing ? Whatever.. we win this we’ll be 10 points fucking clear. Thats it.
So we’re heading back to Boston tomorrow from a Stella trip away and the lil’ mascots first outing on a plane and to the Caribbean.
Just wanna throw a few shouts outs today with a couple of pictures..
Firstly Sue, we met her a few days ago she was by the pool sipping on a Pina on her tod. Smart witty one from Norfolk , she unfortunately lost her husband 8 months ago and she said instead of staring at his chair in the living room she wanted to get out and live again. Her son pushed her and said she was so grateful for that. She’s been coming here for 30 years with him and just said fuck it I’m going for 3 weeks and we’ll see how it goes. We took her to one of her favorite spots today for lunch today at the Crane resort on east coast and mooched around for while. Had a Pina and some banter about Arse vs Liv, her and her son are big Arsenal fans. She is such a darling and a strong fucking one at that. Big love Sue it was such a pleasure. Will stay in touch.
2nd shout out goes to a couple of funny fuckers from Barbs and Grenada. They’re both U17 Fifa refs. We were shit chatting at the bar for a little bit earlier, they were telling me how fucking corrupt refs can get within all leagues, even giving tips on specific players being carded within a certain time frame in games. They also mentioned how perfect they have to be on the day they ref, they’re all rated on a scale of 1-10. For example if they’re currently on an 8.6 and they have one bad decision then ‘instructor’ can shave 0.5 off their ref score. This means that when they ref again and they get another decision wrong they’re flagged and deducted another 0.5 points. Which makes them so stressed within the game focusing on not getting points shaved off. It seemed like an unnecessary way of measuring success.
Anyway, two class acts that have been ref’in fairly high profile games including Honduras vs Puerto Rico at the Concacaf.
