Liverpool vs Toulouse – Back to the Europey !

Well I hope you lot feel a bit more relaxed after that tirade of nonsense back on the old post ?!

Two home games in a row this week starting with the first welcoming ToLose to the floodlights of our beloved Anfield. A win here will put us on 9 points and 5 ahead of 2nd, a perfect start with an eye on early qualification which would do wonders for our PL campaign.

Now I don’t know if any of us noticed but we had a few newbies on our bench vs Bitters on Saturday, which may point to the possibility of seeing them get some minutes on Thursday.

James McConnell, midfielder, 19 yrs old.

The 18-year-old joined the Reds from Sunderland as an U15 player and penned his first professional deal at the club in the 2021/22 season.

An attacking midfielder with an impressive strike on goal, McConnell broke into the U18s squad as a 16-year-old last year. Looks good!

Calum Scanlon, defender, 18 yrs old.

A left-back by trade, who joined the club in February 2021 from Birmingham for 500k.

Kaide Gordon has also returned to the U21’s after lengthy spells out only playing 16 minutes in 19 months. Looks to have put the injuries behind him so we may see him creep onto the first team bench in the coming months.

A job to do on Thursday and they’ll no doubt make us work for it. A deeper squad to choose from nowadays though so the Europa is always a good opportunity to spread the load. Not sure how strong Klopps willing to go for this one and it’s always a fine line between resting players or keeping up momemtum.. here’s my stab.

Gomez Matip Quansah Tsimi
